Hyper-V R2: Making Highly Available VMs
This video demonstrates the creation of 2 different types of highly available virtual machines, running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V cluster. These include a VM with a regular VHD as it’s storage, and another with a Pass Through Disk. I also highlight some of the key changes that have been made in the Failover Clustering MMC GUI.
Duration: 17m 35s
Hyper-V R2: Introducing Cluster Shared Volumes
This video takes a look at the new Cluster Shared Volumes capability in Windows Server 2008 R2, and explains the advantages you gain when it’s enabled. It then goes on to show creation of 2 virtual machines, using CSV storage at the backend.
Duration: 12m 18s
Hyper-V R2: Failover & Live Migration
In this video, we round off our look at clustering by performing a number of Live Migrations of different VMs, using both the GUI, and PowerShell, and then instigating a disruptive shutdown of a physical host, and observing the failover behavior, automatically provided by Failover Clustering.

Hyper-V R2: USB over Network with Fabulatech
In this video, we take a look at one of the ways you can provide native USB peripheral and device support into Hyper-V based virtual machines, using a USB over Network technology, from Fabulatech.

Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V R2 & NetApp Storage Episodes
Hyper-V & NetApp Storage – Overview
In this video, I’m joined by Steve Winfield and Pete Mason from NetApp, to discuss the value add that some of the NetApp storage technologies can bring to a Microsoft Hyper-V infrastructure. We explore the basics, but also look at some of the more advanced features like De Dupe and Thin Provisioning.
Duration: 41m 54s
Hyper-V & NetApp Storage – Demo Part I – Storage Config
In the second of this 4 part series, we set up and configure a NetApp storage backend, to be used with a Hyper-V R2 Cluster. We install and configure the system using NetApp System Manager, and walk through Volume and LUN creation, and more…
Duration: 16m 19s
Hyper-V & NetApp Storage – Demo Part II – Cluster Building
In the 3rd video, of this 4 part series, we validate, and build our Hyper-V R2 cluster, using the NetApp storage backend. We also create a few highly available Virtual Machines to run on our cluster.
Duration: 14m 16s
Hyper-V & NetApp Storage – Demo Part III – Optimizing Storage
In the final part of this 4-part series, we take a look at some of the key capabilities of the NetApp storage backend, with which our Hyper-V cluster is integrated. We look at the space savings achieved when using Thin Provisioning, De Duplication and we also take a look at Snapshots.
