Windows Server 2008 R2: Remote Desktop Services Demo Episodes
1. RDS Session Host – Installation & Configuration
In this video, I walk through the initial installation and configuration of the RDS Session Host (traditional Terminal Server) in a Windows Server 2008 R2 environment. I enable the role, set up the initial bits, and then go on to show some of the different ways I can deploy RDS Applications, also know as RDS RemoteApp.

2. RDS Web Portal- Installation & Configuration
In this video, we build on part 1, by introducing an alternative way to access the different RDS applications and sessions. We’ll also take a look at some of the new functionality introduced in 2008 R2 such as User Assignment.
Duration: 15m 08s
3. RDS Broker – Installation & Configuration
In the previous videos, the RDS Web Portal was connected directly to the RDS Session host, and displayed applications and sessions accordingly, however in this video, we introduce the RDS Connection Broker, which, as the name suggests, will broker the connections from end-users to their apps/sessions. This allows us to scale our solution, yet at the same time, the Session Broker also gives us new options around Virtual Desktops (which will be covered in later videos). This video specifically looks at the integration of the Session Broker in a pure traditional RDS Session Host environment.

4. RDS Gateway – Installation & Configuration
In this video, we introduce a level of security into our small demo environment, in the form of the RDS Gateway. I install and configure the role service, and show how the user experience changes when the Gateway is protecting our infrastructure.

5. RDP7 Deep Dive & User Experience
In this video, we wrap up with a look at some of the ‘under the cover’ areas of RDS, particularly what’s changed in RDP7, Group Policies around RDS, and also, the end user experience with different content types, like Windows Media files.
